data crafting

Below is a temperature blanket.  I love this process of blanket making because it appeals to dual interests in data and yarn crafting.  The idea is that you use temperature data to drive the color changes.  It can be any set of data: daily, annually, highs, lows, averages, or something else that appeals to you.

Temperature blanket, made by me.

Each color represents a set of 10 degrees, so 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, etc.

This blanket specifically was made with six months of average daily temperatures.  Each color represents a set of 10 degrees, so 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, etc.  Isn’t the randomized gradient fabulous?

You can see more examples of this beautiful and cozy craft here and here.
